Most people don't realize that there is a difference between hemp and marijuana which are both "cousins" and different varieties of the same species of plant. Marijuana is a short bushy plant that has a flowering top and is grown for potency and it's psychoactive component, THC--which has medical benefits.
Hemp (on the other hand) does not have a high THC content (at all, typically only 1%) and is grown for it's versatility as a raw material for textile and housing applications. Rather than THC, it is grown for it's seeds, oil, and fiber.
